Shiraz and Syrah are two names for one black grape: Shiraz is what Australia and South Africa call it, Syrah the original French name. York grow theirs at Nashik in Maharashtra, on the inland plateau where almost all of India's wine grapes are planted.

Expect ripe bramble fruit with pepper and a smoky edge from York Shiraz. It is medium to full in the mouth, with tannins that grip just enough to keep it savoury.
