Junmai on a sake label means nothing but rice, water, koji and yeast went into the brew, and Hakutsuru uses that word here. In Japan the term sake covers alcoholic drinks in general, and this rice-based drink is called nihonshu.
HAKUTSURU EXCELLENT JUNMAI SAKE is bottled at 15% ABV.
Hakutsuru Excellent Junmai Sake tastes of ripe dark fruit with soft spice. It is medium to full in the mouth, with tannins that grip just enough to keep it savoury.
Hakutsuru Excellent Junmai Sake pairs best with sushi, grilled pomfret, Szechuan noodles and grilled prawns. Delicate rice-wine umami beside sushi and seafood — the original pairing, with a noodle-bar detour.
