Cabernet Sauvignon began in Bordeaux as a natural crossing of Cabernet Franc and the white grape Sauvignon Blanc, and it is now planted almost everywhere wine is made, including widely in Indian vineyards around Nashik. Thick skins and small berries are why wines from it are usually deep in colour and noticeably tannic.
